Why You Need a Responsive Website

Every company or organization is different and likewise every website for those companies are different. Different needs, different goals. Certain websites will need a listing of events, some websites might need an online store, and some websites may need to showcase galleries. Regardless of the different features websites need, there is one feature that is an absolute necessity for every single website. That is Responsive Webdesign.

So what exactly is a Responsive Website?

Responsive web design makes websites respond to the environment of each individual user and the device(s) they’re using to access the website. The layout changes based on the size and capabilities of the device. For example, on a phone, users would see content shown in a single column view; a tablet might show the same content in two columns. If you’re on a desktop reading this right now you will be able to go to the top right section of your Internet browser and shrink the screen size and our website will respond according to how big or small you make the browser. If you are on a phone or tablet reading this, you should be seeing all of the content perfectly organized in one or two columns and should have no problem reading all of this content.
So why does that matter?
  1. A responsive website is always mobile friendly.

Almost 60% of all Internet traffic is through mobile devices and that number is expected to keep growing. With more and more people ditching traditional laptops and desktops in favor of tablets and phones, having a mobile friendly site is absolutely crucial. You don’t want potential customers and clients attempting to reach out to you but can’t because your site won’t work properly on their device.

  2. Responsive means needing only one website.

A lot of people currently have a mobile website and a separate regular website for their company or organization. With a responsive website, you don’t have to worry about having to create multiple versions of your site to reach your customers. You only have to manage one site. No matter how people access your website it will always respond and automatically deliver them your content.

  3. Google Prioritizing Mobile Friendly

This is probably the most important reason of them all. In 2015 Google completely changed the way its search engine ranked and displayed search results on mobile devices. If your website used to be number one in search results before 2015, that does not mean that someone searching on their phones will see you as number one now. Google is now prioritizing responsive websites in all of its search results. We all know of the importance of Google search results. We all use it and we know that our customers do as well.

In conclusion, regardless of what goals you have for your site or what your customers needs are, having a responsive website is the only way you can ensure that your potential customers will always be able to see your content.
